Belagavi: Warning leaders of MES not to rake up issues relating to boundary dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra, deputy commissioner N Jairam urged them to discuss only problems of linguistic minorities at a meeting of linguistic minorities held at DC office.

The DC said the meeting was convened by him and discussions should be held only on various problems relating to linguistic minorities there. He did not entertain any members to highlight issues of boundary dispute. Heeding to his warning, MES leaders started discussing the problems. They said, the district administration should provide official records to linguistic minorities (Marathi people) in Marathi as they did not understand other languages.They also appealed to have name boards in public places and a top the buses in Marathi. Several MES leaders including Kiran Thakur, former mayor Sarita Patil, Shivaji Sunthkar and Sanjay Shinde were present.
