Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a long-awaited Basaveshwar-Kampwad lift irrigation project at a grand function held at Athani. The project will help irrigate vast agriculture lands spread across 50 villages in Athani and Kagwad region, Belagavi district.

The government spends an estimated ₹ 1350 crore funds on the irrigation project, which was one of the major demand of people of this region. Several top Congress leaders including state in-charge of Congress party Venugopal, KPCC president G Parameshwar, Ministers M B Patil and Ramesh Jarkiholi were present on the occasion.
