Belagavi: The hazardous medical waste being dumped at open places in some areas of Belagavi city is posing a serious threat to its denizens. Officials from City Corporation and Pollution Control Board seems to be totally ignorant about the serious issue and so far failed to take any cognizance of it even as the medical waste lies on street corners.

As per rules, the bio-medical waste is supposed to be dumped in a phased manner following the guidelines issued by government authorities to all hospitals and clinics in the city. However, some hospitals failed to follow it, putting the people in danger. A hospital at Basaveshwar Circle, Goa Ves has dumped bio-medical waste including syringes openly at a street corner. None of Officials or health contractors have taken a note of it.
