Belagavi: With condition of most of the roads turning pathetic due to intermittent rains ahead of Ganesha festival, City Corporation has decided to blacktop all the bad roads before the Ganeshotsava festival takes off. Assuring people at a meeting in City Corporation on Tuesday, Corporation commissioner Shashidhar Kurer said, all roads would be done at least two days before the start of Ganesha festival.

According to him, preparations for immersion of Ganesha idols were being made at nine different spots including Kanabargi, for the lake, Kapileshwar tank and Jakkeri pond. He urged departments of HESCOM and Forest to ensure completion of all ongoing repair and developmental works in the city before the installation of idols for the festival. The final route through which the main procession of idols should be taken would be decided shortly in consultation with all departments, he stated.

DCP Seema Latkar asked members of Ganesha pandals to name some people in-charge of every pandal to ensure that none of the people suffered inconvenience due to the location of pendals. Several city corporators, officers from different departments and leaders from different organisations were present.
