Belagavi: Traffic on state highway connecting Karnataka and Goa via Chorla Ghat was halted by a large number of Kannada activists at Kankumbi on Monday demanding suspension of Goa’s Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar from Goa cabinet for abusing people of Karnataka in filthy language.The dharna on the highway was staged when Water Resources Minister M B Patil was inspecting the Mahadayi project site at Kankumbi afternoon. The protesters burnt the effigy of Palyekar and demanded an apology from Goa CM Manohar Parrikar.

Calling the abusive words of Palyekar as an insult to entire Karnataka and its people, the protesters urged the state government to ban the supply of vegetables, milk and all other essential commodities to Goa from Karnataka until Palyekar was removed from the cabinet.
