Belagavi: After the election threw up a hung assembly, a tug of war between BJP and Congress-JDS alliance has been going on with both the sides exerting pressure on Governor Vajubhai Vala to form a government.According to sources, Mr Vala is expected to invite B S Yeddyurappa, leader of the single largest party, BJP to form a government even though the party is short of eight seats to achieve majority in the House. On what grounds, Vala would invite Yeddyurappa to form the government or would decide against it remains to be seen.

If some sources are to be believed, the BJP is in touch with several MLAs of JDS-Congress in an attempt to drag them into its fold by offering them crores of money and a cabinet berth. However, JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy and Congress leader D K Shivakumar are keeping a watch on all MLAs to prevent them from switching to BJP at any cost.
