Belagavi: To everyone’s surprise, Belagavi City Corporation has decided to take an initiative to celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1st in Belagavi city in a grand fashion. With MES at its helm, the corporation always made headlines during most of Rajyotsava celebrations for the wrong reasons. Many MES leaders and corporators often indulged in anti-Karnataka programmes creating tension in the city. However, Belagavi mayor Basappa Chikkaldinni, who hails from the Kannada group of corporators has decided to hold a meeting shortly to discuss on measures to be taken to make Rajyotsava celebration a grand affair in Belagavi this November 1st.

Several top Kannada leaders and activists will also be invited by Chikkandinni for the meeting. The meeting will issue orders to all staff members of the corporation to compulsorily attend the main programme and the procession to be organised by the district administration on the occasion of Rajyotsava on November. The Black Day which MES holds on November 1st will not have any significance with the mayor himself taking an initiative for a grand November 1 celebration. Many leaders in the city have welcomed the great gesture of Chikkaldinni to celebrate Rajyotsava and felt that the celebration will reach new heights in Belagavi for the first time.
