Belagavi: DC S B Bommanahalli, in a meeting with sugar factories, on Saturday, allowed them three days time to clear all the sugarcane supplied dues of the farmers else would experience the strict action from the government he said.

Bommanahalli instructed to clear the dues in three days from Monday and give the proof for the same. The factories must deposit the arrears to the farmers’ registered bank accounts. He said defaulters would be dealt with strictly if violated the order. He also advised the factories not to underestimate the power of the farmers as it could be difficult them to survive if they bounce.

Former minister and BJP leader MLA Umesh Katti owned Vishwaraj Sugars, Minister Ramesh Jarikiholi owned Soubhagyalaxmi Sugars and Shivashakti Sugars remained absent for the meeting. These factories too have to pay the bills to the farmers.
