Belagavi: Public Works Department (PWD), Belagavi office superintendent Ramesh Shankar Devagekar was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from his department clerk, at his office on Saturday.

Devagekar was said to be demanded a bribe of ₹13,000 from Sharanbasappa Irrappa Mudanal, the First Grade Assistant of his department at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha and had allegedly received ₹3,000 as an advance. He had demanded the bribe to issue bills of the work done and also to Medical Bills. Clerk Mudanal who was said to be harassed for a bribe by Devagekar had complained to ACB and paid the bribe as per their direction. The trap was conducted as per the direction of ACB officer Kabburi.
