Belagavi: Belagavi BJP MP Suresh Angadi who had been to attend a fair at Savadatti taluka in his official car on Sunday returned in government bus to maintain the Election Code of Conduct. The Election Code of Conduct says no elected representative use the official vehicle after the announcement of the election.
Angadi, MP Prabhakar Kore and other BJP leaders attended a programme to flag off the fair in which Yeddyurappa was also present. Since Angadi was informed about enforcement of the code he instructed his car driver to submit the vehicle to the deputy commissioner and after the programme, he returned in a government bus.
Gimmick: The Opposition Congress and JD(S) described Angadi’s journey in a bus as a political gimmick as though almost all the elected representatives of his party had gone in the private cars and all including MP Kore told him to come in their cars, however, he refused the offer and travelled in the bus. A few from his party were also with him.
JD(S) said people are wise and they know Angadi’ ‘Idea’ better and will teach him a lesson in the election as he has done nothing in his 15-year tenure.
Congress said, Angadi, amid Modi wave lost about 80,000 of his margin votes in the last election for which he is doing such acts to drag peoples’ attention toward him. Angadi, who had won by about 1.50 lakh votes in 2009 election won by about 70,000 in the 2014 election.
