Belagavi: St Mary’s Church at Camp known as one of the monuments of the town will step into 150th year on April 15. The attractive structure constructed by British Army in 1869 is situated beside Bishop’ House near St Paul’s High School.Briefing about the programme scheduled for the celebrations, CNI office bearer Col Gyanakan said that the church has been constructed with stones available at Gokak and Rosewood. Glasses that fixed were of Belgium and the wood used were from Dandeli and Alnavar. Speciality of the outstanding structure is that not neither a single gram of cement not a single inch of steel used for the building, instead cement, a typical kind of stone powder used. Barring a few petty repairs, the building is a absolutely in condition. It took almost 9 year to complete the construction work. The celebration including special prayer services will commence from April 14.
